So, one beautiful day (okay, almost always in Bullhead City!) we decided to go off-road on Silver Creek Road, where, ironically, there are dozens of gold mines. The road leads to Oatman.
About half way, there was a sign, "Homestake Mine, Visitors Welcome Today".
Jake and Mike work the mine, but mostly for the deposits of fluorite, as it is easier to find and sell than it is to mine and process gold. Tours are all of 2 bucks, or a couple of beers will do just as well.
This was a well-spent couple of hours, with fine gentlemen, and a gorgeous setting!
